四、一个新发现：
周公禅——赏识教育的“教育禅品格”
传说达摩来华传授禅道，曾有神秘的付法偈嘱慧可：
“吾本来兹土，传教救迷情。
一花开五叶，功到自然成。”
什么是“一花开五叶”？后人有两说：一说自菩提达摩开始，经慧可、僧璨、道信、弘忍而至六祖慧能，终于“一花开五叶”，成就了佛法之花在华夏东土播撒盛开的伟业；另一说为慧能南宗“五家分灯”，形成“伪仰宗、临济宗、曹洞宗、云门宗、法眼宗”这五大派系。
我的理解是不同的。我说的“花”，是禅本身。“五叶”，是禅的五种禀性，即简单、快乐、宁静、亲切、透彻。这五种禀性，是大自然的秉性，也是人类生命本身的秉性。
五叶治五病。这五种禀性（“五叶”），正是治疗“贪心、嗔心、痴心、慢心、疑心”这五种人性顽症和时弊的药方。
在我看来，周弘的赏识教育，就是具备了“简单、快乐、宁静、亲切、透彻”的周公禅。
赏识教育是当今最通俗、最简单的教育，它就像我们吃饭穿衣一样自然、简单。它揭示出教育最朴素的真理，那就是：所有人的成长，都是从“学说话、学走路”开始的；所有的教育，也都要从教孩子“学说话、学走路”开始。教孩子“学说话、学走路”，包涵了教育的全部秘密。
因为简单，它使奉行它的人们时刻处于由衷的快乐之中；因为简单，它在纷繁喧嚣的滚滚红尘里带给人们些许清凉和宁静；因为简单，它朴实亲切得如同“老邻居跟你聊天”，让你丝毫感受不到压力和窘迫；因为简单，它帮你把看似云遮雾罩的教育问题一语说穿，如同“桶底脱落”……
你看吧，“简单、快乐、宁静、亲切、透彻”，禅的五种秉性，赏识教育哪点不具备呢？现在看来，把赏识教育称作“周公禅”是实至名归的。
